As we set our sights on the upcoming sailing season kicking off in November, we want to extend our gratitude, reminisce on cherished moments from last season’s adventures, and update you on some exciting news for BSV.
Our 2022/2023 season concluded in August with us relocating “the girls” to their annual “holiday home” in the enchanting surroundings of Guatemala’s Rio Dulce. This sanctuary offers protection from storms and rejuvenating “spa treatments” for our vessels, ensuring they’re shipshape for the new season.
The latter part of this journey saw us cruising along the Rio Dulce, a place of wonder with 200-foot-high rainforest-clad canyons, inviting hot springs, mesmerizing waterfalls, and quaint indigenous thatched Maya villages. It’s a breathtaking experience and a striking contrast to Belize’s saltwater, reefs, and islands. (Fun fact: Tarzan was filmed here!)
Here’s the thrilling news: We had the privilege of sailing our newest addition, “Ventana al Mar,” on her maiden voyage! She’s a commanding 2018 Lagoon 52 with 6 cabins (accommodating up to 10 guests), and she became a part of the BSV family in early August. Meanwhile, our 3rd-time repeat guests embarked on “Nice Aft Too,” a sleek 4-cabin 2018 Leopard 45, which joined us in July. A warm welcome to BSV, Nice Aft and Ventana!

At BSV, this journey has become a sacred tradition. As we travel together – our crew, ops team, and special guests – we reflect on the season past and count our blessings. Our gratitude extends to the entire BSV team, boat owners, agents, brokers, guests, and resort partners. Because of you, we continue to achieve record-breaking success year after year! To each and every one of you, our thanks are heartfelt and profound.
Speaking of records, our annual fishing “non-tournament” was another source of excitement. Our angling crew (who aren’t competitive… at all…) saw some incredible catches this season. Capt. Rueben nearly clinched the title with prized Mahi Mahi, but Capt. “Deadshot” Danny secured the gold with “THAT Wahoo.” Congratulations to Danny once again!
What truly sets BSV apart is the exceptional experience our guests enjoy while sailing, exploring, and dining with our outstanding crew. Our eclectic and charismatic team, comprised mainly of Belizeans with a sprinkle of international talents, consistently delivers 5-star guest experiences.
With over 300 5-star TripAdvisor reviews and repeat guests who consider our crew as family, our commitment to elaborate hospitality, charter professionalism, and epic sailing experiences shines brightly. But don’t just take our word for it; see our glowing reviews here.
Monumental moments were a resounding theme this season – a flotilla of 26 guests on 4 boats, a surprise 50th birthday celebration, an all-girls cruise (led by our skilled female skipper, Lavonne), two impromptu destination weddings, and countless other occasions that we love to embellish, ensuring they are once in a lifetime.
Lastly, THANK YOU, our valued Brokers, for choosing Belize and BSV for your esteemed guests, and we look forward to hosting them in 2024!
With our very best to you all,
Cliff and Rachael Wilson
