Belize Sailing Vacations Receives Gold Standard Recognition

Belize’s Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dean O. Barrow announced today that the airport will be reopening on October 1st and as we prepare for its reopening the health and safety of the country and international visitors is more important than ever.  In order to ensure that all tourism-related entities, including accommodations, restaurants and tour operators are able to mitigate the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19, The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) launched a “Gold Standard Recognition Program”. In order for establishments to open to international tourists “Gold Standard Certification” is required and our team at BSV has successfully achieved this recognition.

This extensive 9 point program implemented by the BTB ensures that hotels are rigorously following enhanced protocols with regards to cleaning, sanitizing, management of inventory, distancing of staff,  regular monitoring, and reporting. Hotels approved for reopening will operate within a “tourism safe corridor”. In addition to receiving a Tourism Gold Standard  Certificate of Recognition, hotels must provide full service to guests in order to minimize interaction within the local community. These amenities include providing private transportation to/from the airport, access to meals on the property, have pool or beach access, and be able to provide isolated tours with limited guests. Since our charters at BSV are fully all-inclusive,  we are able to provide these full services to our guests.

In addition to the above, hotels will also be implementing:

  • Social distancing and the use of face masks while in public spaces;
  • Contactless payment systems
  • Hand sanitizing stations
  • Enhanced cleaning and increased sanitization of public spaces and high touch surfaces;
  • Daily health checks for guests and employees
  • Action plan for handling suspected COVID-19 cases in employees or guests.

With a population of just 390,000 people, the second largest reef in the world and over 200 islands to explore, we believe that Belize is a perfect place to be socially distant. Sail to remote islands with only your captain and chef on board with all of your needs taken care, from delicious fresh cuisine, exotic libations, multiple snorkeling experiences and opportunities to paddleboard, fish, beach comb and of course, to relax on deck as you sail with the trade winds.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to Belize! Feel free to contact us at  reservations@belizesailingvacations.com or visit our website to learn more about our COVID-19 health and safety policies and procedures.
